Client: Uisce Éireann
Main Contractor: EPS (Electrical & Pumping Services Ltd)
At ESK, we believe the construction of water & wastewater infrastructure plays a vital role in our vision for a sustainable Ireland where the environment is respected and protected.
ESK has proudly accomplished innovative upgrades to the Murroe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Our innovative approach involved implementing a state-of-the-art 6-cell sludge drying reed bed system. Engineered to accommodate sludge accumulation over 8 to 10 years, depending on incoming loading, this cutting-edge technology represents a sustainable, long-term solution for wastewater sludge treatment.
In addition to this, ESK has successfully executed numerous water and wastewater projects, including enhancements to treatment facilities in Portroe, Dromineer, Newtown, and Kilkenny.
Scope of Works
The scope of this project involved the construction of a freshwater storage lagoon. This project was executed with a leading emphasis on safeguarding the local environment and ecosystems. For this reason, the lagoon was constructed and developed using recycled soils. Adhering to a design philosophy that prioritises environmental protection, careful consideration was given to seamlessly integrating the lagoon into the existing valley, minimising disruption to the natural landscape. Upon completion, the lagoon proudly boasts a storage capacity of 16 million litres, a testament to our commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.
